This site is dedicated to the memory of Rob Howells.

When Rob moved to London in his early twenties, he decided to specialise in the bass guitar and he responded to an ad to join a band. The group fronted by lead singer Bianca Denham eventually decided on the name Hansom Pilot and began writing their own music. The band began playing gigs around London, attracting a regular fanbase. They were finalists in Wharfedale’s National Adopt a Band Competition, headliners in Liverpool’s IPO Festival at the famous Cavern Club, shortlisted by public vote for ITV’s Best Unsigned Band feature, and they set up their own record label, Eleventh Hour. Their album Season One was released to critical acclaim and supported with a gig at London’s Scala. After Hansom Pilot split up for practical reasons, and with his wife Sarah pregnant, Rob remained keen to continue playing. He responded to an in-house ad at his employers and soon joined a covers band called DBAS. Their final gig together was at the Hard Rock Café, where many musical legends have performed. Now we can include Rob in that list, where he belongs!
